More about exposure

The museum's exhibits are located in five exhibition halls on three floors and are divided into themes: antiquities, Chinese painting and calligraphy, contemporary art of Hong Kong, the collection of the Xubaizha gallery. The exposition, dedicated to Chinese antiquities, demonstrates ceramic products, bronze, jade and enamel products. There are samples of Chinese fabrics, traditional clothes, bamboo products here.

In the hall of historical painting there are about a thousand paintings made in oil, watercolor, pencil. The collection of prints, drawings and photographs attracts attention. These exhibits immerse us in the life of Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Macau 18-19 centuries. Learn about the trends in contemporary art in Hong Kong can be exemplified by the work of contemporary local artists.

In addition to permanent exhibitions, the Hong Kong Museum of Art regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, for which two separate halls are allocated. In the open area behind the museum building, there is also a small sculpture exhibition.

Opening hours: Monday - Friday: 10:00 - 18:00, Saturday, Sunday: 10:00 - 19:00, Tuesday: closed. On the eve of the Catholic Christmas and the eve of the Chinese New Year: 10:00 - 17:00. The museum does not work the first two days of the Chinese New Year.

There are a lot of city buses going to the museum: No. 1, 1A, 2, 5, 5A, 5C, 6, 6A, 7 and others. Itineraries, as well as the timetable, should be clarified immediately before the trip, as they may change. The metro should be sent to Tsim Sha Tsui station, exit F.

Entrance: 10 HKD, for students, visitors with disabilities and people over 60: 5 HKD, for groups of more than 20 people: 7 HKD. Family ticket (for four people, valid for a year): 200 HKD. On Wednesdays the entrance to the permanent exposition is free. Every day, except Monday, at 11:00 in the museum free guided tours are organized in English.

To visit Hong Kong museums, you can also purchase Museum Weekly Pass at a cost of 30 HKD.
