What is the best money to take to Cuba: dollars or euros?

Responsible
Cuba has two monetary units simultaneously: the national Cuban peso and the convertible Cuban peso. National pesos can be paid in many local stores - both in grocery stores and in mass consumption stores, in public transport and in markets. In the tourist zone and in the so-called "currency shops", as well as many restaurants, only convertible pesos are accepted for payment. Even local residents are paid in both currencies at once. At the same time, it's best to take the EUR to Cuba, and not the US dollars: a commission fee of 10-20% of the amount is charged for the exchange of dollars; exchange of EUR commission is not charged. You can exchange currency in banks, as well as at the airport and most hotels, however in the latter the rate is less profitable. Cuba also accepts credit cards and traveler's checks, except for those issued by US banks.

It is better to take EUR with you, since the exchange takes 20 dollars % commission
