There are several options - how to get to the resort of Ruka . By air from Finnair you can fly from Moscow to Helsinki, from there - an hour flight to Kuusamo, which is only in half an hour from the ski resort . Then you can reach the resort of Ruka by a comfortable bus (journey time about 30 minutes) . Upon arrival right at Kuusamo airport you can hire a car (several rental agencies work here - driver's license is needed international and the driver must be after 21 years or more) . Or you can use public transport: from Kuusamo airport, after every flight directly to the center of Ruka comfortable buses run .
In addition, from Helsinki by train you can get to the cities of Oulu or Rovaniemi, from where regular buses run to Ruk, the journey time is about 4 hours (from Rovaniemi 195 km, from Oulu - 215 km). Alternatively, you can get to the Moscow-Kouvola-Kajaani train from where you can get the Kayaani-Ruka bus.
From St. Petersburg it's best to go to Finland to the Ruka resort by train through Kandalaksha, Murmansk region, from where there are buses directly from the railway station before Salla (3, 5 hours on the road). From Salla to Ruka resort by bus.
