Marseille Provence International Airport is the fifth largest passenger traffic in France, as well as Air France's hub airport. The airport is located in the southeast of the country, 27 km from Marseille.
Construction was originally planned in another region, the final decision was taken after the first successful hydroplane flight on Lake Ethan de Burr, and in 1922 near this place was opened airport. During the Second World War, the airport was completely destroyed. The restoration lasted until 1961.
At the moment there are two passenger terminals at the airport. Nearby is the Vitrolles Marseille railway station
How to get here
From the airport to Marseille you can get there by shuttle, train, or by taxi.
Shuttle buses make regular flights from 5am to midnight, from the platform 3 every 20 minutes from 5 to 10 am and from 6 pm to midnight, every 15 minutes - from 10 am to 6 pm. The ticket costs 8 EUR
The Vitrolles Marseille railway station is 5 minutes from the airport. Trains to Marseilles take 15 to 25 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office and vending machines.
At the airport you can take a taxi to Marseille. The cost of the daytime trip is about 47 EUR, at night - about EUR 58.
