What does the flag of India look like?
Responsible information department of the "Tourism Slices"
Flag of India was approved in its modern form at the meeting of the Assembly on July 22, 1947, for 24 days before independence from Great Britain. The basis for it was the flag of the Indian National Congress, created by Pingali Venkaya (circa 1912). Later, on the initiative of Gandhi, the image of the spinning wheel was applied to the flag, then it was removed and returned again, but in a different form.
Now the flag of India is a rectangular panel of three horizontal stripes of equal width: the top - "deep saffron" white and bottom - green. In the center - the image of a wheel with 24 spokes of a dark blue color. This is the same spinning wheel, more commonly known as "Ashoka Chakra", which was copied from the "Lion Capitals" in Sarnath.
Indians are very demanding about their flag, so they always clearly fulfill the requirement that it can only be made from "hadi" - a special type of homespun material made popular by Mahatma Gandhi
