Quiet and peaceful House Quiet is a great place to feel the atmosphere of Old Jerusalem, getting acquainted with the work of your beloved artist of Israel, Anna Tycho. The museum occupies the former house of the artist and her husband, Dr. Abraham Tiho, and is one of the branches of the Museum of Israel. Today there is a full-scale exhibition work, concerts, lectures, and a popular restaurant.
By itself, House Tycho was one of the first city buildings built outside the walls of the Old City .It was named "Rashid Castle" and was erected in the second half of the 19th century for a wealthy Arab .Dr. Tycho bought it in 1924 .and turned the first floor into an ophthalmological clinic in which his wife Anna worked as an assistant .At the same time she began to paint the surrounding landscapes and portraits of the inhabitants of Jerusalem .After the death of her husband in 1960 .Anna continued to live and work here until 1980 .Her works are recognized, and today Anna's drawings can be seen in many museums, both in Israel and abroad .The house with all its collections and library Anna Tycho bequeathed to the city .
House of the Quiet was well known in the intellectual and cultural environment of Jerusalem. Here creative people and thinkers gathered, Martin Buber and Marc Chagall visited. In the museum and in the wooded area around the mansion tried to preserve a cozy and peaceful atmosphere of the life of the couple, and the exposition presents not only Anna's works, but also memorial materials telling about this couple.
