The first "Latvabirfest" was held in Riga in 2011. Traditionally, the festival takes place in the Vermanis garden in May. This is one of the largest (and even the largest) beer fair-tasting event in the Baltic countries. Every year the festival's number of guests and participants steadily increased . According to statistics, 25% of guests are foreign tourists who specially arrived in the capital of Latvia for the festival . In connection with the general trend that has been observed in the Latvian approach to gastronomy in recent years, the focus is on the festival national traditions . The festival format implies the opportunity to prove oneself both for venerable beer producers and for owners of private mini-breweries.
