Maltese Jazz Festival
Annually, during the three July evenings, Ta'Lis hosts the Malta International Jazz Festival .Musicians from many countries of the world will present an eclectic mix of jazz styles of the contemporary music scene .Last year's festival was attended by such world-famous performers as John Scofield, Al Di Meola, Chick Corea, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Cubanizmo, Michelle Petrucciani, Betty Carter, and Joe Zawinul, Richard Bona and Esperanza Spaulding, as well as many others known in jazz world, musicians .Their concerts were held in the presence of a large number of fans, and impressions complemented the surrounding views of the Grand Harbor of Valletta .

The composition of the participants of the next 21st Malta Jazz Festival is more unique than ever. The festival will be opened by guitarist from Benin Lionel Lueke (Lionel Loueke), recording on Blue Note Records. After an amazing combination of jazz and African music, the audience will see one of the main stars of the festival - Monty Alexander (Monty Alexander) and the Harlem-Kingston Express group. In his more than 50-year career, Monti earned a reputation as a researcher trying to build bridges between the world of American jazz and reggae, the music of his native Jamaica.

Particular attention in Ta'Lis is traditionally given to advanced New York jazz. This year it is represented by rising star Ambrose Akinmusire, whose joint performance with the Brazilian legend Joao Bosco is scheduled for July 15.

Another familiar name for the New York jazz scene, performing here at the Malta jazz festival this year, will be Seamus Blake. The artist plans to present here his new project in the style of electro / groove, in conjunction with drummer Jorge Rossi (Jorge Rossy).

The festival will end with the performance of virtuoso bass player / vocalist Avishai Cohen, whose performance, in which jazz mixed, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern melodies, has already turned him into an outstanding figure of modern jazz.

Local performers will be represented by the singer Nadine Axisa, the Argotti Jazz Ensemble, under the musical management of the famous musician Dominic Galea, as well as the quintet of guitarist Marc Galea, together with the first speaker on this stage saxophonist Robin Nicaise (Robin Nicaise). The festival is organized by the Malta Council for Culture and Arts, under the artistic direction of the jazz musician Sandro Zerafa (Sandro Zerafa).
