Sliema Tower, Malta

At the end of 2014, Malta expects to receive 50,000 Russian travelers - the corresponding figure was announced at the MITT 2014 exhibition by Minister of Tourism Carmen Vella.

The declared bar exceeds the last year's result by 20%, when the island state was visited by 40 thousand tourists from Russia. To achieve this goal, the migration authorities intend to significantly simplify the procedure for obtaining the Maltese Schengen. In particular, the consular service of the country will shorten the time for processing applications, as well as multiply the number of issued multivies.

The diplomat also recalled that, despite the small percentage of Russians in the overall tourist flow, it is our compatriots who come to Malta for the longest period: the average duration of the trip to the island is 12, 5 days. The authorities of the country also hope to conduct "desesonalization" of the Russian tourist flow, since the vast majority of arrivals fall on the summer months.
