A tourist swam in the waters of the Mexican reserve of Sian-Kaan in Quintana Roo was almost overtaken by a hungry crocodile . The tourist noticed the threat in time and started to sail to shore, but the crocodile barely caught him.
The poor fellow rescued a thing thrown into the water, which frightened off the reptile, falling right in front of it. It is reported that crocodiles up to 3 m long - not uncommon in those parts. Employees of the reserve report that reptiles often steal fish from local fishermen.
