A blooming oasis in the center of Oslo, the Botanical Garden is a favorite place for walks of metropolitan residents. There are also a lot of tourists, most of them do not want to miss the opportunity to walk aimlessly outdoors and "digest" impressions from historical sights and museums. Located on an impressive 6 hectares of land, the Oslo Botanical Garden is divided into several thematic zones.
What to see
In total, the Botanical Garden grows around 7,500 plants from around the world. Most of the territory is reserved for the so-called Arboretum - a collection of 1800 trees and shrubs. This collection of flora is planted in a scientific way: each family, genus and species has its own zone.
In the Aromatic Garden, as the name suggests, fragrant plants are gathered, flowering non-stop at different times of the year, so that scents are always swarming here. In the garden, it's nice to just sit on a bench and enjoy the multicolored odors, but its main goal is to give access to the wonderful world of nature for people with disabilities, for which a convenient system of approach has been created.
Pavilion of palms and Pavilion "Victoria" (the first was founded in 1868, the second - in 1876) represent palms and other exotic plants.
The pearl of the plant collection is a collection of rare plants from the banks of the fjords of Oslo, and four species in nature are almost never found.
