For a century now, the Portuguese city of Fatima has been the center of the world pilgrimage of Catholic Christians. It is connected, first of all, with the phenomenon of the Virgin, which happened here repeatedly. The first phenomenon took place in 1917 in the town of Cova da Iria, where today the Virgin Sanctuary stands. For one year the Virgin Mary appeared three more times in different parts of the city. It goes without saying that such a miracle could not remain unnoticed for believers who since then have gathered annually in Fatima on May 13 and October 13. The most significant festivities are organized on the May date, which begin with the procession of candles the night before and end with a farewell procession in the evening 13 th. It should be noted that between May and October dates, every 13th day in Fatima is a day of worship of the Theotokos.
