How to get there
The most convenient way to get to Verkhoturje is by car. From Yekaterinburg, you need to drive along the Serovskiy highway 275 km, then turn off at the signpost "Verkhoturye" and drive another 30 km. About Merkushino should be said separately .In this village, according to legend, in the 17th century came a righteous man named Simeon .Not having his own house, he went from house to house, sewed fur coats and hats, while not taking money for work, and by appointing only a table and a bed .Being very sick, Simeon soon died and was buried near the temple of Archistrategus Michael .After 50 years, his coffin miraculously appeared on the surface of the earth, and it became clear that the remains of the elder did not decay .In the same place began to break through the source, whose water was healing .Since that time, people from all over the region began to gather in Merkushino for this water, and the saint's relics were transferred to Verkhoturye .
