One of the largest and oldest monuments of orthodox architecture, which today knows the Russian north, is the Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery, founded by the disciple of Sergius of Radonezh - by Dimitri Prilutsky.
In addition, it is this object of cultural heritage that represents a unique ensemble of the original buildings of the monastery, which have not been practically changed since the beginning of their foundation. In many respects only due to this, each building object is considered a place of increased attention on the part of admirers of Orthodox culture, especially since in one of the cathedrals of the monastery rest the relics of its founder, Dimitri Prilutsky.
Firstly, the Vologda residents came very close to the place of the coffin with the relics of the saint at a time when local residents began to die from seizures a few centuries ago, and the illness took a serious enough. According to eyewitnesses, only a campaign to a saint's cancer helped to heal for good. Although experienced experts see in these materials a few objective facts.
More "real" miracles occurred with the Vyatichi, who had the imprudence of offending the respectable inhabitants of Vologda. According to the references in the annals, all the invaders were drowned nearby in the marshes, and the man who encroached on the main shrine of the monastery was completely killed by unknown strength.
However, the most amazing metamorphoses with the buildings of the monastery occurred after the Communists came to power, as many already probably guessed .Dashing revolutionaries were urgently evicted from the territory of the prior and novices, and all those who resisted and sympathized were shot directly on the spot .All worthwhile church relics were sold to feed the inhabitants of the Volga region and pay revolutionary needs .Until the fifties of the twentieth century, the Savior-Prilutsk Monastery managed to build military warehouses, a cinema, a transit prison for the dispossessed, and a whole host of institutions of very different orientations .
In modern Russia, this place has returned to its roots, and now the territory has again revived the monastery, and part of the buildings are reserved for the Vologda Museum-Reserve. So, after passing its centuries-old, thorny path, the Savior-Prilutskiy Monastery again became a place for the spiritual growth of many parishioners and monks of the monastery.
What to look for
Most of the buildings of the monastery date back to the 16th and 17th centuries, including the Cathedral of the Savior (1537), the Gate Ascension (1587) and the Vvedenskaya (1623) churches, the 16th century chambers. The wooden Assumption Church (1519) on the territory of the monastery is the oldest preserved tent temple.
The small courtyard of the Savior-Priluki Monastery houses many buildings and 17-08 centuries. Fans of the work of the poet Batiushkov visit his grave at the monastery cemetery on memorable dates.
