The Ministry of Transport reported that the movement of suburban electric cars can be discontinued in 20 regions of Russia if local authorities will leave the level of compensation to the railway workers at the current level.

Suburban electric trains can be canceled if the regional authorities continue to pay tariffs in 2014. This was announced by the deputy head of the Ministry of Transport Alexei Tsydenov. Currently, only the Moscow and St. Petersburg transport hubs do not provoke criticism.

Currently, suburban passenger companies, RZhD's subsidiaries, provide regions with the opportunity to regulate the fare, and they themselves receive compensation from the authorities for the falling income. The government is obliged to compensate for the losses incurred by the companies due to the reduction of tariffs, but not all regions fulfill their obligations in full.

The first region left without electric trains was the Vologda region, where suburban electric trains ceased to run on January 1, 2015
