History of the White Lake
The White Lake has always been famous for its fish stocks. Once upon a time on its bank was the Gosudarev fish yard, in which the bailiffs controlled fishermen's catch and collected tribute from them. In the 1940s, along the western and southern shores, a by-pass channel was built for the passage of ships. Today it is used mainly by small vessels
During the archaeological excavations of 1956, produced on the shore of the White Lake, a figure of a small fish from bronze was found. Apparently, it was a fish "zolopero" - a character well known in local folklore. Today, on the shore of the reservoir, the Golden Fishes are built, headed by a wooden carved palace in which the Lady of the Lakes and the Seas allegedly dwells.
Since 1964, the White Lake is part of the Sheksna Reservoir. On the northern shore it is the village of Lipin Bor, on the southern side is the town of Belozersk

Fishing on the White Lake
The most fishy shore is considered to be the northern one. At this point several rivers and streams flow into the Beloe (Kovzha, Kema). The branched delta here has long been overgrown with algae and reeds, so the conditions are more than favorable for fishing.
In the local waters there are such fish as: croissant and snack, crucian and pike-perch, pike and bream. Total - more than 29 species. The most valuable prey, of course, is pikeperch. In the White Lake it is large and fat. It is pike perch that is the main commercial fish. There were times when fishermen caught 12-kilogram individuals. If you're lucky, even today you can catch quite a large pike perch, as well as pike and bream. Fishing on the lake is possible at any time of the year.
- Go fishing. Since the main wealth of the lake is the fish, first of all they go here to fish. All year round in the village of Lipin Bor there are competitions for the best catch, the best fisherman and the best ear. Anyone can take part: both professional fishermen and just amateurs.
- Hunt. The area around the lake has long been fond of birds: hazel grouse, black grouse, capercaillie, duck. Fish-rich places are chosen for rest and flocks of migratory birds. In general, the conditions for hunting here are the most suitable. As for guns, cartridges and uniforms, you should not worry.
