How to get to Drvengrad
It is most convenient to order a transfer in one of the Serbian travel agencies. Prices are low - 20 EUR one way or 40 EUR round-trip; transport will wait for tourists on site as much as needed.
The bus from Belgrade to Mokru Gora leaves at 7:30 am from the central bus station. In fact, the bus goes to Vysehrad, but if there is at least one person traveling to the village of Kusturica, the minibus is specially sent for it to the designated fork, there is no need to pay extra. The cost of the ticket is about 900 RSD, there are about five hours to be spent on the way.
You can also travel by rail from Belgrade to Uzice, and then take a bus to Mokra Gora, or use the services of private drivers.

A bit of history

What to see
Drvengrad is one great attraction, so it's worth to spend the whole day here to see the numerous wooden houses and to admire the wonderful atmosphere of the embodied fairy tale. Streets and squares of the village bear the names of famous people - Bergman, Tarkovsky, Fellini, Mikhalkov - and even those who are far from the cinema, but the iconic characters of history: Tesla, Ivo Andric, Diego Maradona, etc., and are honored by Kusturica. In addition to this and in tourist houses surely there will be images of celebrities - here you can easily spend the night in the room "Gagarin" or "Che Guevara."
The center of Drvengrad is the square of Nikola Tesla and the church of St. Sava of Serbia, where Kusturica himself adopted Christianity in 2005 (he was born to Islam by birth, but his ancestors were Orthodox). The church clearly resembles the North Russian temples - and not without reason, the Russian northern canon was taken as a basis. Here, on the square, you can see a collection of retro cars, including the "old" Trabant in the films of Kusturica and the black "Volga" donated by Nikita Mikhalkov.
The city can not be without a prison - and Drvengrad was no exception. "Hradsky Gate" provides a table and shelter for two major international criminals, according to the Emir, George Bush and Javier Solana, who "peep" because of the prison bars. One of the most unusual places in the village is the underground cinema Stanley Kubrick. For this architectural project, Emir Kusturica won the Philippe Rothier Award in 2005.

From the railway station of Mokry Gory there is a route of the picturesque Sharganskaya Eight - about five trains a day in the warm season, in the winter the road is closed. The train passes through numerous tunnels in the rocks and winds, climbing the mountains.
