Infrastructure The town is small, but it has everything you need: shops, hotels, restaurants, bank, post office. There is a large, cozy pedestrian zone where you can idly wander around and admire the city's landscapes, or you can sit in meditation on the veranda of one of the many restaurants. There are a number of attractions, but how not to be in such an old city? Especially in the main square, which is called the Námestie Osloboditeľov Square in Liptovský Mikuláš.

For a global purchase of souvenirs, it is better to go to the Nicolaus shopping center, which is on the street. Garbjarskaya

Entertainment, excursions and attractions

The old synagogue remembers a lot, but now it hosts a variety of numerous exhibitions and cultural events. Several museums of the city will be glad to visitors, which, frankly speaking, are few, although the museums are quite interesting, and the Museum of hunting and fishing is completely unique.

Boghunia Art Gallery (the second largest collection of exhibits in Slovakia and the Kolokan Falcon Center 2 EUR adults, 1 EUR children) will be very interesting for art lovers . By the way, in itself the interesting center of Koloman Sokol is in the old building - the second oldest in Liptovský Mikuláš - the house of the family Pongrács . Architectural House The historic center's center is the Church of St. Nicholas . Once a powerful fortress walls of the city approached him, and now in their place the memorial is a symbolic fence .

In the very center of the city (which is completely reconstructed and cares of the townspeople are supported in almost perfect condition), a picturesque fountain was built Metamorphosis - a tribute to the memory of all the great people who came from Liptovský Mikuláš Other attractions: Lutheran church, Gothic Franciscan monastery named after M.Sc. St. Peter's in Okolichne.

A little away from the city center, in the street Školská, stands an elegant building in the Baroque style. This is an ancient Jesuit monastery, which was built between 1757 and 1764, but was not used for its original purposes (as a monastery). Already in 1787 the Jesuit brotherhood left the building, the former monastery began to serve as the residence of the administration of Liptovský Mikuláš, and today there is the interesting Museum of speleology (entrance 1, 5 EUR, children about 70 euro cents).

There is another house that deserves attention tourists - this is an old hotel "Black Eagle" (Čierny orol). In the 19th century a theater was made from the guest house, thus turning the building into a center of the city's cultural life. Hence the Mikulash socialists pushed their speeches, Jan Chalupka put on his comedy, and today the Black Eagle, a branch of the Liptov Museum, where an exposition about hunting and fishing in the region is exhibited.

Funny life of the town Liptovsky Mikulash

Main the museum of the city is a museum of Yanka Kral, which is located in the former Ileshgazi manor. The exposition tells about the history of the city from 1286 to today. Entrance 2 EUR, children 1 EUR.

The general atmosphere of the city is quiet, calm, a bit sleepy. Perhaps, lovers of nightlife will find it boring here, but for those who appreciate a quiet rest in ecologically safe regions, Liptovsky Mikulash is a very good choice.

It is worth adding that due to its geographical location, the city can become an excellent starting point for travel to Slovakia. It is necessary to take into account, traveling independently, that trains of different types run along the Slovakian railways. And the Slovak language is such that the names of the types of trains are somewhat puzzling. Therefore, it is necessary to make an effort to understand the nuances of loose bodies, wetlands, and special people. However, any of these trains guarantee comfort, cleanliness and delightful views outside the window

Local rivers are suitable, as well as possible for rafting and rafting. Not far from the city, the Liptovska Mara reservoir is constructed, which is the largest reservoir in Slovakia.

About a dozen villages were flooded, the railway line and the highway were moved to implement this project, whose purpose was to protect the region from floods and generate enough electricity.

Caves of Demyanovskaya Valley

About 10 km from the city, in the Demyanovskaya Valley, there are places that attract attention not only speleologists-lovers, but also professionals: extremely interesting and picturesque Ice Cave and Freedom Cave.
