Perhaps there are no tourists who would be vacationing in Tenerife and did not visit the Teide National Park. The main attraction of the island attracts travelers from all over the world not only with its unique flora and fauna. The visiting card of the national park is the eponymous active volcano Teide, whose height is over 3500 meters. Climbing him without exaggeration is considered an obligatory ritual on a trip to Tenerife. When climbing the volcano, you can also enjoy all the beauties of the Teide National Park.

The age of this harsh natural monument is more than 5 million years old. In 1956 the territory of 135 square meters. meters around the volcano was declared a nature protection zone, the Teide National Park (Cañadas del Teide) was established here, including the huge Cañadas caldera, whose size is about 17 km in diameter.

Around the volcano there are many volcanic fragments of frozen black lava, white and ocher color, which under the influence of time and natural factors have acquired bizarre forms. The most famous of them even carries its own name, it is the rock of Los Roques de Garcia, which translates as the finger of God - one of the most common symbols of Spain. In 1979, even the Los Roquez denominations of 1,000 pesetas were issued in the country.
Teide National Park literally in its heyday is between April and June. In these months, everything around here is directly fragrant and blossoms in colorful colors.

For climbing, it's best to use a car (it's easy to rent), although trained tourists are more likely to want to conquer the volcano on foot. The fact is that there is a good asphalted road running along which you can easily climb to a height of more than two thousand meters. Then you can use the cable car and cross another thousand meters up. The cableway works at any time of the year, however, in winter, if it is bad weather, it is sometimes closed for security reasons.

The so-called volcanic bombs that can be seen and evoked in the park are impressed and attracted. During the eruption, they were thrown out of the vale of the volcano. These bombs have a very unusual stuffing. Inside, under the sintered black shell, is a glossy mineral core of olive color. This mineral is called olivine, and it is referred to semiprecious stones.

An unusual and memorable souvenir with a history of millions of years can be taken with Tenerife - a craft or jewelry from olivine, which can be purchased at one of the many shops and shops on the island .

Teide, the dormant Tenerife volcano February 19, 2014

was here in January 2012
Still only having planned a trip to Tenerife, we decided that we will definitely go to the volcano. Every Spaniard knows about him since childhood, it is held in school, and before that, an image with him was adorned with a money note, when there were still pesetas in the country. It's almost like the Kremlin, Lake Baikal and the like, known to every seven-year-old schoolboy in Russia.

Our guide Carmen, who accompanied us during the trip, recommended us an evening excursion.
