Spain has a very complex and rich coat of arms. This shield, crowned with a crown, and surrounded by two pillars, interwoven with a red ribbon. On its field are elements of the arms of different kingdoms, which have become a single country - Spain.

In the upper left part is a castle - a symbol of Castile, in the upper right there is a lion, standing on its hind legs - the symbol of Leon. Red stripes (columns) on a yellow background in the lower left corner of the shield - Aragon. In the right lower quadrant of the shield the emblem of Navarre: on a red background a golden wrought-iron lattice in the shape of a flower with an emerald in the middle. Centered below, between Navarre and Aragon, is the symbol of Granada - a grenade.

In the center of the main shield is a small shield of blue with three golden lilies on it - a sign of the monarchic Bourbon dynasty. They rule Spain to this day, and that the country is a kingdom resembles a golden crown over a shield.

The pillars between which the shield is located are the Hercules pillars, the Strait of Gibraltar with the fortresses of Gibraltar and Tangier standing on its opposite banks. On the red ribbon is inscribed Plus Ultra, which in Latin means "beyond limit" - for the strait, according to our ancestors, the end of the world lay.
