The National Tourist Office of Tunisia in Moscow reports that the government decided to postpone the introduction of a new tax. Earlier, the Tunisian authorities reported that since August 28, 2014, all foreigners leaving the country will have to pay 30 TND (about 17 USD).
The exit tax will be effective from October 1, 2014. The government of Tunisia considered it inappropriate to introduce a new tax at the height of the tourist season and decided to postpone the date of its beginning.
According to preliminary forecasts of the local government, the new duty will bring the treasury of Tunisia more than 23 million USD as early as 2014. In 2015, the profit on the exit tax will be about 69 million USD.
