Dubai International Airport was recognized as the busiest in the world by the end of 2014, overtaking the London Heathrow. Last year the air haven of the Emirate was used by about 71 million international passengers, which is 3 million more than the index of the main airport in Great Britain.

Paul Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Airport, explained that Heathrow is operating at the capacity limit, which is why it loses traffic to the emirate's hub. Not the least role in the development of the airport in Dubai was played by the rapid development of the airline "Emirates" (Emirates), which has the largest fleet in the world.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that Heathrow was pressed from the first line, passenger traffic in 2014 was a record for the largest airport in London: almost 73.4 million passengers, including domestic flights, which is 1, 4% more than the 2013 figure.

At the same time, Heathrow's heavy workload had a negative impact on punctuality: according to the correspondence between the actual departure time and the declared hub, it took only 11th place in the world. The first place in the ranking of punctuality went to another English airport.
