What is the climate in Madeira?
Responsible information department of the "Tourism Subtlety"
Almost throughout the territory of Madeira, the climate is the same, and belongs to the subtropical-Mediterranean type. It's warm here, but it's not hot in summer, it's not cold in winter. All year long it is humid (relative humidity of air is 60-65%), in the mornings there is a fog in the mountains. From October to February inclusive often rains, in the high season the amount of precipitation decreases. All year round the whole island is covered with lush vegetation, among which there are a lot of unique, exotic plants.
In summer the island is very comfortable, the daily average temperature of August and September (the warmest months of the year) is about +22-23 degrees. At night, slightly colder, to + 18-20 degrees. You can swim in the three summer months, the water in the ocean warms up to + 20-22.
Winter is also mild, without serious colds. The temperature in the daytime is about +16-18 degrees, at night it drops to + 5-7. Even in the mountains, the thermometer's column rarely drops below +5 in the afternoon and +2 at night. But the water cools down to + 17-19 degrees - the swimming season ends.
