Bratislava Castle is a monumental castle, a massive quadrangular structure towering above the city on a cliff above the left bank of the Danube, on the southern spur of the Lesser Carpathians. It symbolizes more than a thousand-year-old Slovak history, and its towers and terraces in front of the main facade offer a magnificent view of the city and the surrounding area.
It became a real, full-fledged castle by the 11th century, and its present appearance acquired in the 15th century. Unfortunately, a strong fire in 1811 marked the beginning of the destruction of the castle ... It was recreated practically from the ruins in the second half of the 20th century and housed the expositions of the Slovak People's Museum. Also in our days various exhibitions are held in its walls. Rising to the castle, you should admire the picturesque roofs of the old town and the panorama of the Danube floodplain.

We decided to go up to Grad, on foot, probably by the longest road leading to it. The climb took about 20 minutes on foot, although it was possible here and by car to drive.
Entrance to the territory of the City is free, but you can visit the castle from 9 to 17 hours daily, paying for the entrance .... Read the whole review
