Add a review about Krasna Gorka Castle

Krasna Gorka Castle is a large complex of medieval structures that have been preserved in good condition to the present day. The castle is given the status of a national cultural monument.

Looks like Krasna Gorka, just as traditional locks in book illustrations.

Admire the medieval architecture of the castle come thousands of tourists every year. Looks Krasna Gorka exactly as traditional castles in book illustrations: a majestic building of white stone, standing on a high hill. Everything is exactly the same - Krasna Gorka's castle seemed to come off the picture and rivet her eyes to her.

Strictly speaking, Krasna Gorka is three different castles, not one. Originally a small fortress was built for defensive purposes (the first written mention is found in 1333). Then a dwelling was added to the citadel, and the function of defense passed to other structures built just below the hill. After all the buildings (upper and lower locks) connected the defensive wall with the bastions.

If you look at Krasna Gorka from above, then the lock looks like a triangle with corners-bastions. In the center of this triangle is a palace, a chapel and other buildings in the courtyard. In the 16th century the castle was rebuilt and strengthened, and in the beginning of the 18th century it was badly damaged by fire. The interior decoration was very damaged by fire, but was restored thanks to the investments of the Andrashi family, which at that time belonged to the castle.

Now Krasna Gorka functions as a castle museum .One part of the castle is an exhibition of the Romanesque and Gothic period of the country .In addition to household utensils and a huge collection of weapons, there are curious specimens such as instruments from the torture chamber .The second part of the exhibition is located in the former residential interiors and represents an excursion into the noble life of Slovakia in the 18th century .Here the furniture, paintings and other decoration are in excellent condition .Still there is a third part of the exhibition, which includes a collection of medieval musical instruments .

The glass coffin with the mummy of the wife of one of the former owners of Krasnaya Gorka is perhaps the most controversial part of the exposition. The woman was called Jofia Seredi of the Andrashi family, she did not remember anything special in history, but now thousands of visitors look at her buried body every year.
