Add a review about Oravsky Grad

Oravsky Grad - one of the most remarkable castles in Slovakia. It is located on the bank of the river Orava on a steep rock at an altitude of 112 m, so sometimes it is called "Eagle's Nest". From the castle opens a chic view of the valley.

The beauty of architecture and location made Oravsky Castle a favorite of filmmakers. The most famous film in Russia is the Soviet fairy tale "The King-thrush". The first film about the Count Dracula ("The Nosferatu: Symphony of Terror") was not filmed in the "native" Brane, namely here in Oravsky Castle.

The construction of the Orava Castle began in the middle of the 13th century and was completed only in the 17th century. But very quickly the fortress became one of the richest and most powerful fortifications of Slovakia.

In the Middle Ages Oravsky Grad was located at the intersection of trade routes, it was repeatedly tried to capture. Therefore, the security issues were taken seriously here - the castle has thick stone walls, loopholes and towers for defense.

Architectural vinaigrette is distinguished by the Orava Castle. Here there are features of Romanesque style, Gothic, Renaissance, Romanticism and Baroque.

Orava Castle was built in 3 stages, and each stage symbolizes the features of the life of its owners. Therefore, the first level turned out to be so gloomy at the modern view: huge empty halls, alcoves, crossings and a lot of defenses.

Premises of the second and third levels are much more cozy, because they were built much later. There are also small patios, stairs, balconies. The style of the second and third levels of the castle is a renaissance. These floors seem to be very well-kept thanks to the preserved objects of interior, furniture and utensils.

In one of the halls of the Orava Castle there is a stone bench. According to the legend, if a barren woman stays at her for a few minutes, she will certainly become pregnant within a year.

Now a number of museums are located in the Orava Castle: a local ethnographic museum and a nature museum. The museum works in the castle from the end of the 19th century. The Orava Castle gives a complete picture of life in Slovakia for several centuries: from the times of the feudal wars to the middle of the 19th century

Orava Castle is sometimes called the "Eagle's Nest."

The castle is one of the national monuments of Slovakia. Partially Oravsky Castle is under reconstruction, which has been going on for many years.
