2500 years ago, the city of Ibiza (Vila d'Eivissa), founded by the Carthaginians, was located on top of a hill surrounded by fortresses proudly rising above the bay and the port. Over the past 40 years, the incredible tourist flow has transformed the city and the whole island from the poor and inconspicuous corner of the Mediterranean into an advanced paradise for clubbers and travelers.
Today, the capital of Ibiza is a unique combination of rich nightlife, kilometers of comfortable beaches and colorful narrow streets with many shops and souvenir shops.

Entertainment and attractions of Ibiza
Although the city of Ibiza is a modern dynamic tourist center, it has not lost its historical appearance and charm, which is observed in the areas of La Marina, El Eixample and the Old Town - D'Alt Vila. The latter is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In fact, the road to the Old Town goes from the ferry terminal through the ancient streets of the quarter of Sa Penya. Behind the walls, once built to protect D'Alt Vila from pirates, are medieval attractions. For example, the cathedral of 13-14 centuries, built on the site of the former temple of Mercury, with elements of the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque eras. Here is the church of St. Domingo in honor of the Dominican order of the 16th century.
At the very "bottom" of the Old Town is the marina, which accepts regular ferry services from Formentera, Palma, Denia and Barcelona. As expected, there are numerous cafes and bars near the pier.
Sa Penya - the most characteristic area for the city of Ibiza: here the streets are full of bars, restaurants, shops and other entertainment venues. Barrio de la Peña and de la Bomba - a typical city quarter where modern life is pulsating.
- To be bought with local attributes: vypendrezhnymi glasses, T-shirts with talking inscriptions, bags and all sorts of funny accessories.
- Go to the Hotel Ushuaia at the pre-party before you go clubbing all night.
- In the daytime and not after a sleepless night, rent a scooter and ride around the island.
- To swim on Formentera - with an excursion or on a regular boat.
- In the intervals between visiting clubs and beach parties do not forget to swim at least once in the sea.
Museums of Ibiza
There are 3 museums in the city:
- The Museum of Puig de Molins (from 16:00 to 19:00, Via Romana Street) with an exposition of products from burnt clay and sarcophagi from the ancient burial ground of Pich-de-Molin.
- The necropolis of Pich-de-Molin is located under the museum, and some of its tombs are open for public visits.
- The Archaeological Museum presents a collection of antiquities dating from the prehistoric times to the 16th century (the old town of D'Alt Vila, from 10.00 to 13.00).
