Bulgakov Museum in Kiev is located on one of the most interesting and beautiful streets of the Ukrainian capital - Andreevsky Spusk .House No. 13 was built more than 100 years ago .The family of Mikhail Bulgakov settled here in 1906 and lived until 1919 .It is interesting that many Kyivites call this building not only the House of Turbins .The fact is that the Ukrainian writer Victor Nekrasov in 1967 published in the magazine "New World" an essay entitled "The House of Turbins" .From that very moment, local residents and guests of Kiev became interested in this landmark, gradually turning it into a landmark location .
Today, all visitors to the Bulgakov Museum in Kiev fall into an amazing world in which two families live: the writer and literary from the novel The White Guard. By the way, the name of Turbina was really close to Mikhail Afanasyevich. His grandmother wore such a surname.
The Bulgakov Museum in Kiev was opened in 1991. It was based on the collection of Anatoly Konchakovsky, director of the museum. He collected unique exhibits for many years and eventually found them worthy of use.
It should be noted that it was very difficult to recreate the situation in the Bulgakov museum in Kiev at the beginning of the 20th century. The family occupied the whole second floor in the house No. 13 - as many as seven rooms. However, after the last relatives of the writer were forced to leave the apartment, completely different people settled here. Part of the rooms was converted into communal apartments, and, naturally, a large number of all kinds of partitions appeared. The previous layout was almost destroyed, however, like furniture.
Nevertheless, restorers still managed to restore the original look of the apartment. Many important details survived, no matter what: printed tiles, parquet, door handles, part of the grand staircase. The writer's relatives handed the personal belongings of Mikhail Afanasievich to the Bulgakov Museum in Kiev: books, photographs, autographs and much more. In total, the museum stores more than 2500 items, about 500 of them belong to the writer's family.
It was in this house that the author settled the heroes of his novel "The White Guard" - the family of Turbins. Getting into the museum, you immediately plunge into the real and fictional worlds, at the same time you will see the things of Bulgakov and Turbins. Interestingly, all the exhibits of the Bulgakov Museum in Kiev, related to artistic fiction, are painted in white, so that visitors are not confused.
