Portugal is a country of ships, therefore in Lisbon in the 19th century a marine museum was opened dedicated to shipbuilding and everything connected with it. The museum works to this day, welcoming tourists from all over the world. In his collection there are more than 15 thousand exhibits, including real boats, caravels, sailboats. It is curious that the Maritime Museum is not located in a separate building, but inside the monastery of Jeronimos (entrance to the left). Despite this, there are many spacious halls where both the exhibits and tourist groups easily fit in.
During the excursion to the Maritime Museum of Lisbon, be sure to look into the room of geographical discoveries and the hall of royal cabins. The first presents the surviving things of the discoverers, for example, the famous navigator Vasco da Gama, and in the second, as you can see from the title, you will see the real quarters of the Portuguese rulers.
By the way, the Lisbon Maritime Museum also includes the legendary ship - sailing frigate Fragata D. Fernando II e Gloria. The ship is moored on the river Tejo and is also open to tourists.
