Souillac is a small village on the rocky coast of the Savan county . The main bait in the eyes of tourists here is the furnished beach of Gri-Gri (Gris Gris) . It is impossible to swim on it (it is too dangerous), but the beauty that opens from observation platforms partly compensates this sad fact . At the eastern end of the beach is the picturesque "weeping rock" La Roche-ki-Plehler - a favorite place for photoshoots of tourists . Nearby there is a waterfall Rochester (Rochester) is not the best in Mauritius, but for local holidaymakers they are quite suitable for the definition of "local attractions" . You can get to Suyaka from the capital, Port Louis (buses depart every hour), and from Kurepipe (three buses per day) and Maeburg (every half hour) . Shanti Ananda can be reached by taxi for 150 MUR . Shanti Ananda can be reached by taxi for 150 MUR .

Blue- Bay (Blue Bay) - one of the most picturesque corners of the southern coast, ideal for relaxing with children. The nearby marine park offers great prospects for snorkeling fans, and on the beach itself offers a lot of excursions: both on a boat with a transparent bottom, and dale-snorkeling, and "dive safari" to the nearest islands.

At the eastern tip of the beach of Gri- Gris is a picturesque "weeping rock" La Roche-ki-Pleer - a favorite place for photoshoots of tourists.

1 km from the shore of the Blue Gulf is the "Island of White Herons" Ile aux Aigrettes (Ile aux Aigrettes), a popular eco-tourism destination. You can go there only with the help of the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation (MWF), who took "patronage" over the island and periodically arrange for him an hour and a half excursions, starting from the hotel Le Preskil. Book them in advance. Another popular excursion is a day trip to Maeburg, which can be reached by a private taxi ride (100 MUR) or by bus (departs every half hour).

Bel Ombre is the last town on the south coast that has been built almost entirely located on the territory of the former sugar plantation . Here are located one of the most luxurious hotel complexes in Mauritius: Shanti Ananda, Movenpick and Heritage Le Telfair .The main attraction of tourists who came to the local paradise is a walk to the plantation Belle-Ombr (Domaine de Bel Ombre), which was founded by the Irish botanist Charles Telfair in 1816-1833. . The other attractions are of natural origin: flowers, gardens, waterfalls, birds and gourmet restaurants with dishes at the appropriate prices .

Maeburg is a small town with a rich past, located near the bay of Vieux-Gran Port. In addition to walking along picturesque sleepy streets and shops, here you should visit the confectionery factory and the church of Notre-Dame des Anges. In Mayburg, the Château Robillard Castle, built at the entrance to the city, which now houses the Museum of National History with ancient maps and engravings, swords of corsairs and remains of sunken ships, is also interesting in Maebourg.

Vieux Grand Port can boast ruins the Dutch fortress, the oldest in Mauritius.

Nature lovers will appreciate the Domaine du Chasseur, where wild boars, deer and monkeys live in their natural habitat. There is also a restaurant with a view of the sea, in the menu of which some of the inhabitants of the reserve (namely deer) occupy a very worthy place.

Diving on the southern coast of Mauritius

The main dive sites of the southern coast go by the chain from Maeburg by Blue- Bay and further south. It is better for beginners to dive on the site, which is located directly in the Blue Bay and is called: Blue Bay. The average depth there is 7 m, which allows you to dive even with a mask and fins.

One of the best places for diving is on the island of Roches Zozo (33 m). There's an interesting sea landscape, rocky peaks, canyons and tunnels. To the south is a small site called Grotte Langouste, where, as the name suggests, lobsters and lobsters live in abundance. Another dive site nearby is the Colorado Canyon, stretching for 400 m and framed on both sides by high cliffs. There is on the south coast of Mauritius and the wreck - the old English military ship Sirius (18 m) that sank in 1810 during the battle of Maeburg.
